Mentoring at Early College High School

The Early College High School (ECHS) of Carrollton Farmers Branch ISD each year
invites a cohort of high achieving, lower income students from middle schools in the
district to participate in the challenge of completing four years of high school at the same
time as they complete a two-year college degree. Those who accept will attend school at
Brookhaven College, be taught by both ISD and college instructors, participate in social,
special interest, and student government clubs at the college, and, often complete a
service learning project.

Early College High School:

  • Provides dual credit at no cost to students
  • Offers rigorous instruction and accelerated courses
  • Provides academic and social support services to help students succeed
  • Increases college readiness
  • Reduces barriers to college access

AAUW’s GEM Mentoring program operates with the cooperation of the administration
at ECHS.
